Problem Resolution: Unable to Connect to XenData License Server

Updated March 27, 2018

Background
XenData Archive Series software requires a digitally signed activation file to be obtained from a XenData license server via the internet before it can operate, this procedure being part of the standard installation process.

Issue
Upgrades to the XenData License Server now mean that any attempts to apply licenses using default settings will fail with the error message “Communication error while fetching license from XenData License Server: The operation timed out”.

Resolution
Contained in the “c:\Program Files\XenData\Archive Series” folder is a utility called “XDLicAdminConfig.exe” which when run prompts the user for the IP address of the system providing the license information, and it is this IP address that has changed.  Simply setting this IP address to 52.169.23.79 will fix the problem.
