The LTO Edition of XenData Archive Series software manages the XenData range of archive appliances including the X1, X20, X40 and SX-560 Series. It reads from and writes to LTO using either the LTFS format or the XenData TAR format. The capabilities of the system can be extended by installing our Legacy File System Extension software upgrade. This is free of charge to any customer that has a current support agreement with us. It adds read-only support for the following proprietary LTO formats:
- Active Circle TAR
- Cache-A TAR
After being catalogued on a XenData system, the files stored on LTO in one of the above proprietary formats can be migrated easily to new LTO cartridges written using the LTFS interchange standard. Or alternatively, the content can be automatically migrated to cloud object storage.

With over 558 TB of content and growing, conventional backup solutions just don’t work for us. Our XenData system allows us to maintain an ongoing mirrored copy of our shared storage while creating replica LTO copies for offsite storage.
