XenData6 Server Antivirus Software Compatibility

Introduction
When installing antivirus protection on an archive running XenData6 Server, it is important to choose an antivirus (AV) solution that has been certified by XenData. Both XenData6 Server software and AV software use file system filtering techniques and there may be undesirable interactions if you use an AV product that has not been certified.

XenData6 Server on Windows Server 2012 R2
The following antivirus software is certified for use with XenData6 Server software running on Windows Server 2012 R2:

  • Symantec Endpoint Protection 14.0. Configuration of this AV product with XenData6 Server software is described further in XenData Technical Note XTN1802.
  • Intel McAfee Endpoint Security version 10.2. Configuration of this AV product with XenData6 Server software is described further in XenData Technical Note XTN1605.
  • ESET File Security version 6.4. Configuration of this AV product with XenData6 Server software is described further in XenData Technical Note XTN1607.
  • Webroot SecureAnywhere Business Endpoint Protection version 9.0.15.65.  This AV product works with XenData6 Server software with no special configuration required as described in XenData Technical Note XTN1703.
  • Sophos Endpoint Security version 5.5.0, with Exploit Prevention, Patch Agent, Anti-virus, and Endpoint Defense. Configuration of this AV product with XenData6 Server software is described further in XenData Technical Note XTN1704.

XenData6 Server on Windows Server 2008 R2
The following antivirus software is certified for use with XenData6 Server software running on Windows Server 2008 R2:

  • Symantec Endpoint Protection Antivirus and Antispyware Module version 12.1. The use of this Symantec product with XenData6 Server software is described further in XenData Technical Note XTN1203.
  • AhnLab V3Net for Windows Server 7.0 used with real-time antivirus and real-time antispyware. The use of V3Net with XenData6 Server software is described further in XenData Technical Note XTN1302.

XenData6 Server on Windows 7
The XenData SX-10 Archive Appliance runs Windows 7 Professional x64. The following antivirus software is certified for installation on the SX-10:

  • Microsoft Security Essentials
  • There is a known incompatibility with: Symantec Endpoint Protection (Windows 7 only)
